A five-year program called “Advancing Local Dairy Development in Nigeria” (ALDDN) is helping smallholder women dairy farmers in Nigeria and the communities where they live improve their livelihoods, productivity, nutrition, and sense of empowerment. ALDDN, which is supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, seeks to assist at least 210,000 people in the states of Adamawa, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, and Plateau. The Federal Ministries of Agriculture and Rural Development, Industry Trade & Development, Health, Women Affairs & Social Development, Water Resources, and the Governments of Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, and Plateau States are supporting the implementation of ALDDN in collaboration with private sector businesses.
The dairy processor partners are Integrated Dairies Limited, Arla Global Dairy Products Limited, L&Z Integrated Farms Limited, Majestik Dairy Products Limited, Saj Foods Limited, and Sebore Farms Limited, while TechnoServe and Livestock247 are implementing partners on the ALDDN program.
